Safari Packing & Checklist

  • Sunglasses
  • Sunblock
  • Mosquito and tick repellent  (typically mosquitos are not a problem )
  • Batteries for all your equipment that needs it
  • Plug adapters, we use 220 volts, 3 pin ( see more information under “FAQS” for the correct adaptor)
  • Binoculars
  • Still and video camera along with chargers
  • Flashlight


  • Cash ( you can exchange dollars for Rand at the airport )
  • Credit Card ( call them to inform them of your travel plans )
  • Gun documents ( 4457 & SAPS 520, Mandate & Invitation letter)
  • Medical documents
  • Passport
  • Plane tickets
  • Travel insurance
  • Address and contact details of your outfitter / PH in Africa


  • Comfortable walking boots – preferably ones that you have worn before
  • Jacket
  • Clothes you can layer
  • Gloves
  • Hat / Cap
  • Long pants, zip off are best
  • Clothing is best if it is neutral colors.  No nylon,  brush pants or bright colors
  • Toothbrush / toothpaste
  • Shampoo / conditioner
  • Your brand of toiletries that you can not do without
  • Shaver
  • Shaving cream
  • Deodorant
  • Necessary vaccinations
  • Any personal medication
  • If you are bringing prescription medication, we recommend you also bring a copy of your doctor’s prescription if you need a refill or they are lost
  • We strongly suggest that you  get a certificate  or letter of coverage from your medical insurance company
